    Hi,
Just wondering, is it essential to apply a small percentage of supplements like seachem flourish, trace, excel or equalilbrium to your planted tanks? I understand that from time to time the base fertilizer will deplete it minerials after some time and regular water changes, this dosing helps to improve the health of your plants. What are your views and which supplement/s for you guys normally use?

I usually do it in a CO2 enriched tank. For non CO2 tanks I let the fish poo and water changes or water top ups to supplement.

    I use LushGRO Micros anyway..
Studying the water chemistry and nutrients is a science.
Knowing what plants to get and how to use them is an art.
Aquascaping is a marriage of art and science, the logical and emotional.

If you're injecting CO2, it is necessary to add those in substantial amounts. Base fertiliser will usually not suffice.

There are many "supplements" or fertilisers as we call them in the market. Those who hate science and want results usually go for commercial stuff and follow instructions on the bottles, whereas those who prefer saving the money on fertilisers go the "powder" way which is dosing chemicals like potassium nitrate and potassium phosphate etc. Read the stickies for more info!
