    Hey People,

Ok, not a fantasic picture, but noticed something while shooting the Indian Glass Catfish (Kryptopterus minor). Did anyone else noticed nice colours on the undulating body of the fish?

And for the first time, I see the small small dorsal fin on the back (I thought it was some parasite, luckily didn't pull it out haha)... and a pair of chew chew on the chin. Amazing fish!

that's the effect of flash photography, just like viewing a fish under sunlight, they look different from aquarium condition because the light is so much more intense.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

If you look closely, under normal light there is colour but only from a certain angle and the colour is rather faint. It dissappear when looked from the side. Disfraction?
Much like deep sea jelly fish have rainbow have colour on their beating cillia/whatever-you-call-that.

In case some of you can't see image from photobucket.

Beautiful! I never noticed the greenish sheen on my lone glass catfish at home.

BTW - I once saw an exhibit at the Science Centre where they showed the effects of polarizer on the fish. I think the effect was that the bones structures became clearer. Maybe you can give a try?

Wow... Polariser? Will it work on shrimps too? Since shrimps are translucent like the catfish in some ways too...

Greenish and pinkish. This particular pic, the green is stronger than the pink behind. Just the muscles being translucent is amazing enough.

Again, another common fish that is underappreciated in the hobby. I am guilty of this too.

    BEAUTIFUL picture!!!

my pair of glass catfish at home seems to be hiding most of the time at the back of the tank among the plants. they only come out when lights are out, so i guess i can't photograph them easily.

anyway, recently i find that one of them has got a larger tummy, the part between the pink and green area has got two kidney-shaped balloon... wonder if you all experienced this as well.

Those are fantastic close-up's. May I ask what camera you are using, and settings? (natural light, flash, etc). I just bought a Coolpix L3 but I've yet to get a decent picture of my tank. I've got a glass catfsh too and he'd make a beauty of a picture. On a side-note, what are you feeding your glass catfish?

Thanks. This was taken with a Canon 300D with macro lens, external flash. I have never seen the glass cat eat, but I suppose it is eating whatever pellets I am feeding to the rest of the fishes.

Love to see some of your pics soon!
