For that amount of money, I'd rather get an Eheim.

Call me Brian.
P.S. This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.
any eheim to match tetra's; pump output 1260 l/hr,cannister volume 12liters (i think) comes with media and price below RM500..?
I think Eheim's Pro II 2028 is only 1050 l/hr. Tetra seems to be slightly stronger. Interesting.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
Same goes with me , with that amount of money, I will go for EHEIM...piece of mind....![]()
i am thinking to get a filter for my 4x2x2 tank .. which complete set filter is suitable? below RM500? other than eheim 2028, fluval? rena?
anyway, tetra sure looks irresistable... btw eheim 2028 sells for around RM850(without media) and RM1000(with media) in malaysia..(KL)
Looks well built. I am considering one of the Tetra 90s for my new tank. Checked it out in a few LFS, they all say it is good. Cheaper then Eheim, and better flow rate.

50Gallon (90 X 45 X 45) Tetra Ex120, CO2 @1~2 bps, 4X30 watt @8 hrs
29 Gallon (61X40X45cm) DIY ADA stand, Eheim 2215, Fishline 48w T5 light @8hrs

Tank in Progress (120X60X55cm) DIY sliding door stand, Reef style tank w/ SUMP+Eheim pump, T5- 6X54w
the flow rate i think is wonderful if you ahve a larger tank... especially if you run a chiller..
Ehiems i find have too slow a flow rate for chillers.

Hi rainbowfix, based on the feedback so far, guess most of us here are Eheim supporters, including myself. Maybe you can give it a try and feedback to this forum in a month or so about the effectiveness of this filter.
Talked to one authorized supplier of the Tetra filters here in Taiwan. He said they had a leaking problem with the seal when they first came out but have been updated and since the update he has sold over 1100 of them with none being returned and no complaints. And, he is using one on his personal tank at home.
Price-wise you can't go wrong. Performace-wise it seems good.
Eheim has a long reputation, and that is hard to compete with. Though just like Sony used to be the best in all electronics and music, it took time, but they were replaced by something "better" - Apple and iPod.
I am not trying to say that iPod is the best music play, nor am I saying the Eheim are bad products.
I am just say that things change and now Apple is the company on top and all other MP3 players are called potential "iPod Killers". With iPod costing a premium over other MP3 players, just like Eheim filters are more expensive then other compariable filters.
Products are funny that way. Eheim, many of us have used and feel it is good and very quiet. That doesn't mean that Tetra is bad, it just means it doesn't have the long history. And a reputation of being the best is hard to beat if no one wants to try the competition.

Wonder is it difficult to get spare parts for tetra?
I noticed C328 does carry some Tetra parts.
Eg: The filter pads, valves and taps.
So I dun think the parts is an issue.
to me, thing about eheim is that parts are easily available in many places.
thats a major plus if not anything else
so for other filter brands to try to beat it, they will lose in this area.
its a cycle thing. it has to be popular before parts become easily available.
but that is precisely one factor thats preventing it from becoming popular
not say it won't.
jus no doubt it will take time.
like im hoping ada becomes so popular that we can find its products easily in spore. haha
Yeah that parts do help. But if the product is good, parts aren't needed for a while, and by that time the parts will be available...
Ada. I am just waiting for someone else to make the same thing cheaper. I have trouble believing that the ADA products are any better then the rest as they are all made pretty much the same way. As anything in Asia, after being out one year, many people have copied it or imporved on the design. I am sure someone has with ADA. Just it takes testing to find out.
