Very essential. Light will regulate the bioclock of fish and plants. You wouldn't like it if the sun shone 24/7 would you?

Sorry. I was a bit vague.

My fren told me that the light ideally should be on for like 8 hours a day.

My question is how important is it that I turn on and off the light at the same time every day?

    i.e. Is this good?
    Day 1 ON: 7AM OFF: 3PM
    Day 2 ON: 9AM OFF: 5PM
    Day 3 ON: 12PM OFF: 8PM

hmm.....on/off lights same time every day, i suppose most of us do have a fixed timming for that. any reason why u practise the timming for the example u provided? for me which most of us do, use a timer, i being plain lazy.

i don't really practise the example i gave to that extreme.. The difference is usually just about 2 hours..

It's usually cuz I stay up late doing stuff and I wake up at different timings according to my school schedule.. I immediately turn it on when I wake up..

And because I don't exactly have "The Full Set", I don't have a timer yet.. haha

    Hello,Stream
    I've 2 sets of Ts,
On first set at 8am-2pm, 2nd set on at 10am to 5pm
You should seriously get a timer.....better control.

When night time, i'll on x 1 led from my headlight to simulate moonlight.... ,now in the process of doing a light night for my fishes.

    yea mate..
    haha..

will be getting one fah sure.. but will prolly get all at one shot.. do some research here and there first though..

wat is the purpose of the moonlight other than to simulate the natural env... how does it benefit the T? Should I be doing one(or at least thinking of one)?

Imho the varied timings won't be good because plants will be confused as to when to start and stop their photosynthesis. It's my own analogy.

A timer will certainly help very much. An analog one costs less than $20.

A moonlight imho is purely for asthetic purposes.
