Looks like some kind of moss??

I doubt this moss can be grown submersed. I tried it before and well nothing goes well.

Wow, looks nice...so moss can grow on filter medium!
I suppose the filter medium must b rich in nutrients for the moss to grow so well.
Hi Zhiz22, ur filter must b very close to the light as well right?

This kind of moss think is the exact ones you find in the drain or on the carpark concrete slabs. Looks like you have a natural terrarium going on. So long its moist, it grows. Did I saw some pellia in your first pics? Cheers.
i think that one is riccia, if you are referring to the thick leaf thing
Serious? Check this link http://www.tropica.com/default.asp. Stroll down find pellia. Previously some lfs called it giant riccia.
erm not sure lelh. i only had riccia (pest), moss and java fern in my tank. only possible that moss and riccia landed in the filter sponge compartment
To me 100% confirm its pellia, cause i'm keeping it. Unless you've got a super zoom on it, then probably i'm wrong. Anyway it looks good.
this is riccia right, grown emmersed.
yup.......
Moss grows diffenently when emmersed. Could be one of the species that you have.
What you have looks good, hopefully it'll propogate along the filter media.
I wonder if it plays a role in the filtration process?
