First stop was Dao Jie along the Nu Jiang west of Baoshan

    A couple G.zanaensis

Then a single specimen of don't know what..Pareuchiloglanis anteanalis ? half dead small fish so went into ethanol directly.

Then we travelled west along the Long Chuan Jiang (Irrawady tributary) and happen to find this frozen Bagarius in the restaurant, RMB 200 per kg...and according to expert the Bagarius here is undescribed species..this catfish has widest distribution range in South East Asia and actually represents different species.

Then further west we reached Hehua slightly before Liang He County, which already Daying Jiang, and saw these Glyptothorax, and now confused, This is G.trilineatus..

    Probably G. longjiangensis

Then in another restaurant, saw this single fish, G.burmanicus,

Travelled down to Jinghong of Xishuangbanna, saw these Laides longibarbis at the Dai tribe BBQ store, RMB 30 per serving (but managed to bargain down to 20)...

And then next day visited Menglun, east of Jinghong and saw the Mekong Bagarius..

and this probably G.laoensis..regret didn't buy this lousy specimen as it was the only throughout the trip...

There were a few Glyptohorax, according to the OLD book, it refer it as G.lampris...

My main catfish target here was Wallago attu but saw none except this H.wyckioides.

Not only hang around in the market but we also jump into the water to catch fish...then got this juv G.lampris, initially i thought they were Akysis brachybarbatus, only caught 3 pc but all died.

Then I started to travel alone, visited Meng Lian, which belongs to Shimao city, near the South West Burmese border. first day travelled nort to Jingxin along the Nan Lei river(which is supposed to be Mekong tributary), but then caught this Glyptothorax in Nan Lei river, and probably G.deqinensis...confusing..the fish inside this river is like half mekong half salween/irrawady...

then I travelled towards west to Mengma, which is already Salween tributary and here I caught Oreoglanis macropterus(???) in the rapid

Other fish here was very recently described Schistura disparizona

Then finally come down to the Hekou along the Yuan Jiang(Red river), and first day saw the Bagarius rutilus at the restaurant beside the bus station! No bad RMB 90 per kg, chiong ah...

Then also saw H.vietnamicus(I hope), bo spot..pure dark grey

    Pelteobagrus vachelli was most common

    As well as Silurus asotus

But this one was rare Cranoglanis henrici

Suppose to spend more time around here but now got to go back to Daying Jiang again liao..

Back to Tengchong, this time I went to Houqiao(Guyong) along the Binlang Jiang, can call it upper Daying Jiang....

extremely difficult day trip but was fruitful, Pseudexostoma brachysoma, only one pc so in ethanol now

And first time saw live Pseudecheneis during this trip. It's undescribed species here.

    This confusing Glyptothorax again..

nd the best catch(buy to be precise) here was Exostoma labiatum

After collecting the Dario again then on the way back, I stayed one night at Manhai check point along the Nu Jiang, no wild fish as the weather was rather hot, but then got to see the Nu Jiang Bagarius

    END
