Osram website didnt indicate they have a 6500K DE MH bulb. I am looking for the 70W version. Can someone tell me where to get them and how much they cost? Thank you.

Went to Gan today and noticed that the planted tank looked quite yellowish even though it was mentioned in the forum previously that they were using 2x150W MH 6500K MH bulbs, similar to the one sold in Nature Aquarium. But it doesnt look as 'white' as my tank when I was using those rated 6500K AEC PL tubes. Seems like although both are rated as 6500K, the colour emitted from MH and PL still looked different. Comments?

I am currently using 4x70W MH for my 5ft tank. Want to change to 6500K bulbs cos the present bulbs are too yellowish (Philips MH bulbs, should be 4000K). My glosso are crawling very very slowly. Seems like they dun like 4000K bulbs.

kingpin, I think for Gan's tank, its due to the staining by the driftwood

Thanks ach. Gave them a call and found the MH bulb with the type of connection, wattage and kelvins that I have been looking for. But it is a bit expensive. Moreover, I need 4[]. Any other places that I can do a comparison? Thanks.

    ach,

They quoted me $72 for one 70w Iwasaki 6500K MH bulbs (E27 connection type). Presently, they dun have stock for DE type. So, do you think the price is reasonable. If I get 4, it will be $288[]. Very ex man. The bulbs can run for 9000 hours(about 2 years). There are many good reviews about this bulb on the net. But most of them on marine instead of freshwater. Any other alternatives?

Penta lighting dun sell 6500k MH bulbs, they have Osram 5200K.

yah..is the same OSRAM light that i'm using...what more can you ask for S$35 per piece???...

ADA also have their own MH light bulb, at 8000K, costs at least S$100 plus..

Arcadia MH Light bulb are at least S$100 plus too.

wah $72 for 70watt type ,very X. the 150Watt(E27) type is 75 or 80. Maybe take johnny's lobang n get OSRAM 5200K, abit yellow but still ok for planted tank. Then u can buy two/three bulbs, wah say your tank would bubble(O2)like crazy.

What to do.... Branded bulbs. Actually, the price for 70W and 150W MH bulbs do not differ much. At most a difference of few dollars . The Philips MH bulbs I have now are 4000K. The plants are growing well and minimum presence of algae. The problem is I dun like the colour. Glosso also seems stunted compared to the rest of the plants. Anyone using those rated 6500K Iwasaki bulbs on their tanks, preferably freshwater tanks?
