    Hi folks,

I've been bit by the "cory bug" recently.....could any "shi fus" (experts) guide me as to the ideal condition to keeping corys? eg. substrate, plants, DW, lighting, water conditions, etc.....

    Thanks in advance!!

Am no expert but I'll try to share some infomation from my past experience.

Lighting - not critical as it's more for the plants rather than the fish.

Water condition - pH around neutral or slightly acidic, good water condition as for those of those freshwater fishes.

Plants - Corys don't chew on plants, but they may dig out newly-planted hairgrasss or similar, while digging around the substrate for food.

Driftwood - I normally try to find arc ones so that the Corys can hide in the shade and yet can be viewed from the front of the tank.

Substrate - I used riversand and/or Dennerle gravel which is catfish-safe.

    Cheers!

    P-L-E-C-O-R-Y=M-A-N-I-A!!! YEAH!
FLORENCE, capital of the region of Tuscany, has a population of around half a million inhabitants, spreads on the banks of the Arno, between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian seas, almost in the middle of the Italian peninsula. It is a city which bustles with industry and craft, commerce and culture, art and science.

Oh, try to leave a little bare foreground where you can drop the food tablets (or other food) for the Corys.

On your tank's layout, make sure you don't have any spaces where the Corys may get themselves stuck.

    So you into cories too
Try breeding them too.....very interesting behaviour & challenging...If not, you will miss the most important part of this odd ball...
In my opinion, cories will breed easily given ideal conditions...

the way we keep corys in the UK is vastly different than the way you keep them in paradise, we have virtually bare tanks with very few plants in the tank.
our basic setup is a layer of sand about a cm deep with a clump of java-fern on a small piece of bogwood, or a clump of java-moss and a small internal power filter, and thats all we do.

Wow.. you change your interest fairly quickly...

Anyway, I've identified all your cories in your sale thread. One of them is a Brochis.

Hahas....I'm not that fast at all, I just have a fickle mind i think??

Anyway, I've settled down with 3 tanks of different species of fish now
It should stay like this for as long as I can sustain!!
