    Hi all,

Its been sometime ever since I've left the planted scene to focus in other fishy projects....due to the recent ADA craze, the old flame of aquascaping has rekindled once again!! Going to empty one of my 2 feet tank for this new planted journey.....

Basically I have kept quite a number of essentials for planted like:
    CO2 cylinder
    Solenoid
    Regulator
my precious 2 ADA FL light tubes
    drop checker
    and other accessories

I would need to purchase one 9L Aquasoil Amazonia and base fert.....

Attached is the piece of DW for center piece.....what should I tied on it? moss, winderlov, fissiden or mix?

Should I stick to internal filter or use Eden 501? I'm using a glass diffuser for CO2.....

Plants: tenellus, glosso, crypts, hairgrass, suggestions for stem plants??

Fishes: will decide after 1 month of running tank with plants settled in...

Comments and advises are most welcome!!

    hi cacatuoides

i thought it was recommended that Aquasoil goes with Powersand instead of base fertilizer.
    don't worry, be happy

riccia: Yes, it is recommended but since power sand is quite ex, i will choose base fert as the next alternative....

richietay: thanks bro, i'm still thinking wat to tie on the driftwood.....whether i should mix and tie or cover the whole wood with moss or to leave it bare?

    need your advices..

    .

Hi, just to reply to that. I see no difference in using powersand (ps) with aquasoil and using just the aquasoil alone.

For aesthetic reason, I would suggest you only go for aquasoil, and leave out all the other base fert. It is really not necessary. AquaSoil is good enough. If after some time you want to put more fert in your substrat, maybe you can consider fert balls.(roots ball)

Also, to talk about your filter. I think Eden501 is too weak for a 2feet tank (the 15G one). I now run my Eden in a 6L tank. Initially I ran it in a 20L tank. IMO, Eden501 will do poorly in larger volume.

    Cheers,
    Christophe

yes I agree with you, it is good advice to use aquasoil alone and to add fert sticks in the future.....

which filter should I be aiming for? i'm thinking of using my old internal filter, use it to help mist my tank with CO2 as well....

For eg. having the diffuser sit below the internal filter, let it suck the Co2 in and help circulate the mist around the tank....

Need all the advices from the experts here....really kind of lost touch with the greens le...

I had a 2026 running in a 2 feet (15G) as well. And the flow is adjustable, and you can always install a rainbar.

As for the Co2 diffused gas being sucked in, it is not that good i think, the filter might have problem running. Simply put the diffuser near (below) the internal filter outlet and let it spread it around the tank. No need to actually sucked the Co2 in, then spread.

Both wood placements look good, but the 2nd one might be easier to aquascape with. It screams of narrow leaf Java fern tied to it's center.

This is abit OT, but does anyone noticed that the 2nd wood has an imprint of an owl?

I'm thinking of: fissiden on the left bend, narrow leaf JF at center and moss from centre to right....

main plants will include tenellus, glosso, crypts and some stemmed background plants.... any suggestions for background plants?? I must admit that I really lost touched with aquascaping!!!

Suggestions for lighting also.... 2 x 15W (ADA tubes) or PL or T5? can recommend me a good and cheap T5 set?

    Hi,

ADA Soil should work well on its own without the addition of ADA Power Sand.

Guess that you already know but just thought that I drop in a reminder to add a piece of styrofoam on the base of the tank.
