Thanks Ranma, I think I figured out. It's amazing man, an entire picture just became letters and symbols and transported here and there. This is getting fun, man. Thanks, PS remember to get me Kumi Koda's signed poster.

    Michael,

The fish in your third picture looks like it is really small, when compared to the size of the Oto. How big does these fellows grow to?

I got a "dwarf bristlenose" from NA some time back, and now it's grown to around 4 inches in length. I probably bought the wrong "dwarf" for my 20Litre tank, and I'm looking out for another that wont grow big.

    Hi Lawrence,
This fish which I got from Gan's usually grows to 2 inches and there onwards growth rate is really slow. I had 1 though that grew to 3 inches but that was about the biggest I've seen it. Gan's biggest is also at 3 inches I think. I have yet to ID it, sorry.

i would say it's a dolichopterus, our commonest bn is temminki as a lot of the lads breed them and sell them to the shops.

    'bn'??

So, there are several species known as 'dwarf bristlenoses'? What would be their difference? Size? Colouration? Ours have red/orange tips at the tail and some have blue spots...

hi justin, the three commonest in the trade are temminki, dolichopterus and hoplogenys, they all grow to around 5-6ins

the differences are, doli's have creamish spots, the hoplo's have the whitish-blue spots and the temminki have a marbled pattern with white borders to the dorsal and caudal fins.

sorry forgot about them, usually the doli's have yellow tips, possible it's them,
with them being mass produced it might have deepened the colour.
