Yes, it will decrease the flow rate as the water has to pass many obstacle. The tray were meant to hold certain amount of media that will guarantee the flowrate that the motor is capable of pushing.

Yesterday I replaced the filterpads of 2026 to a new set from Eheim.
But today, I realised that the out flowrate is not as powerful as it used to be, reason being that the outflow ball is suspending in the middle of the gauge.
What could have possibly be the problem?
On top of replacing the filterpads, I added another 500g of biohome+ on top of the existing eheim biosubsfi. Will this cause the drop of the flowrate?

Hi Winston,
How old is your filter? Did you check the rubber rings between the trays? If that is damaged, it will affect the flow rate too.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
2026 is around 1 year old. Rubber ring so far ok, I have taken it for a wash, still can feel the tension in it.
I guess there are about 1.5kg of bio-media, including 500g of Biohome+
What should be the ideal capacity of a 2026 tray?
Meanwhile, after 5 days, the ball indicator is still at the 3/4 gauge.
The original amount is ideal.
