Care of helicopter

Most of the so called algae wafers' first ingredients are made of fish and fish derivatives with exception to JBL and Tropical (big bottle ones) from what I found out. As their diet should mainly consist of vegetables I feed these sparingly to get my helicopters ready for spawning.

There is also another brand that is Wedley or something, that the overseas Pleco fanatics swear by as the composition of algae is supposedly the highest...

But if helicopters are omnivorous, is that an issue at all?

Helicopters are omnivores however their diet is inclined to vegetable matters therefore feeding them animal proteins once in a while would be fine. More details can be found here http://www.planetcatfish.com/shanesw...article_id=247

Are you refering to any brand? I've had good response from HIkari's range and Tetramin. Alot of catfish lovers here also swear by this 2 brands which I personally find takes care of their complete diet.

What i mean is those normal pellet fish food you feed other tropical fishes. Mine is super fast sinking, kind of bought the wrong one. And if i feed it, would it still eat the algae in the tank?

They will, that's why the wafers or pellets are supplements.

You can also try feeding it during lights out while the others are sleeping.
