Is it difficult and troublesome to hatch bbs? You bought the the hatchery or self made?

I used the conventional way of using a 1.5L coke bottle and a air pump....also made a holder to let the hatchery sit on.....its simple and cheap way of hatching bbs, of cause I don't hatch them everyday, just once a week when i'm free!!

sorry to digress from your thread. If not wrong your outlet is at the lowest point of inverted pet bottle? Then how did you sperate the eggs and bbs?
Cause bought from a lfs with the same method of hatching but its like 50% eggs or shell and 50% bbs.

It is an inverted PET bottle....just off the air pump, let it settle down.....BBS will settle at the bottom while the eggs will float up....just need to release the BBS from the bottom... I'm using premium eggs from BSD so hatch rate is about 80 - 90%

    my 2 cents

Do you really need an inverted bottle?

For me, I tried with a betta tank with air pump, lots of salt 0.03

3 days already, refuse to hatch

Incorrect storage is one of the main reason for poor hatch rate.

You can try to decapsulate the eggs for better hatch rate.

WOW!!! Quite a good way but a little troublesome....worth trying the next time!!

My conventional way of hatching using PET bottle takes 12hrs for the eggs to hatch...so far its rather easy as I hatch one a week for my fishes

Decapsulation is good but do it only if you know what you're doing. If the process is done wrongly, the eggs will be damaged.

e-mini is correct, improper storage results in the eggs having a lower hatchrate. Most of the LFS in SG seldom store the eggs in the proper way. They should be kept in air-tight containers, and left in a cool spot in your refridgerator.

That said, marine salt works the best for me when it comes to hatching eggs.
    Fish.. Simply Irresistable
    Back to Killies... slowly.
