Lee, I agree with Benny that the moss ball looks out of place. For your small tank, maybe you can try growing micranthemum micranthemoides at the background. If you want to show-case your moss as the centre piece, its better to remove the lotus plant. It makes your tank look cramped and out of focus, best replace with Blyxa japonica as midground plant.

suppose thats taiwan moss you have it on the wood, actually would suggest use other moss like weeping or Xmas moss be better. the taiwan moss would probably outgrown the present size.

my original plan was to use xmas moss, but couldnt get it that time and just plumped for taiwan moss - similar looking i tot

now its grown ridiculously thick...and thats in less than 2 mths!!

think if i just leave it it'll cover everything sooner rather than later
its already about "consumed" the dw

If stem plant is not your favourite, try Microsorum pteropus(java fern) or Bolbitis heudelotii as background plant. For midground, you can plant cryptocryne or Anbius species except nanas.

i was consideirng java
but concerned that i have to tie it to dw
erhmmm not sure what you think from the pic but i feel like its getting kinda cramped to add in another dw of java
unless i remove the moss dw

toying with the idea to remove my moss dw and moss lawn
sell all my moss
remove the vallis

i will turn the dw around into another placement
so that it will look something like a "Y"
tie narrow leave java or probably just java ferns on the fork of the "Y"
then a teeny bit of moss or bolbitis at the edges of 2 or 3 of the branches

as for the moss lawn, will replacethe empty space after removal with a HC or with a HG foreground

any comments with this new arrangement?

i have doubts in that my routine is 36w PL light 10 hrs a day
1bps co2 on timer
seachem range of ferts (everything except iron) twice a week
iron once a week
weekly 50% WC with equilibrium added

so am not sure if my setup is able to grow HC / HG well..
