    Well, new pics:

    New pics:

The client is getting things right, I still am working on adding a O2 controller and a special CO2 flow metering system, unlike anything seem in this hobby.

He still has a ways to go for scaping, but you get the general idea:

    All EI dosing methods.

Six months after changing soil, the water is really clear. This tank is a paradise for the fishes, the discuses look very small there. And the massive scape is wall to wall planting. Thanks for sharing.

    Wow - it's very beautiful.
If I were there, I would put a sofa in front of the tank to relax and enjoy the view.

Well, the client has a 6000$ chair(actually two) that are form fitting fine Italian leather and swivel easily

I refer to them as the "Chairs of Death" due to the comfort.
The tank is awesome to behold in person. ADA tanks and scapes etc have few fish, this thing is loaded.

While there is some degree of artistic aesthetics with one single species layout, as far as sitting and pure entertainment, a community is impossible to beat when it comes down to it. It is a feast for the eyes and if it does that, it's good.

I want this client to work more on scaping. I think he has the skills to do a large Dutch style scape with dramatic work and rock work.

I'll be heading down in 1 month to work on the CO2 so more and add an O2 controller system to a web routed system so he can monitor and watch the system anywhere in the world.

The tank has more technology that you know and is getting more.

I'd like to see some Eustralis stellata, L cuda, and L aromatica in here. These are easy to grow plants, top well and would be easy to care for over time.

As the tank matures more, it should do even better.
At this scale, full ADA soil did not work well.
We have black flourite available now also.

I'll be redoing another 300 gallon shortly with that.
I still have to do a 350 gallon office tank for this same client.
The goal is to get the odd ball fish out of the 1600 gallon and replace with a more aesthetic community.

But it's still not my tank, I work for clients
    Not the other way around.

Wow! very nice tank. What caught my eyes first was the java ferns. With the tank of this size, plants certainly grow to their full potential. How I wish i could see it in person.

Come over to LA, USA sometime and we might allow you to see it.

It's about 30 minutes from LAX.

    Re: The behemoth tank

    Hell frozen over.........New update:

Does not look as big as you think..........but if you sit in front of it, relax in those chairs O death that fit you better than memory foam... sip some good wine after a long day..........

You realize that it's a community. Might enter the ADA contest, get some better pics, trim things up some more. Anyone that doubts EI works at large and small scales, you can eat some crow.
Sediment is all Eco complete. That's about 1 meter of downoi in the front there. It's very difficult to get detail since the tank is so large.

    Re: The behemoth tank

Suh an amazing tank, however i cant help looking at those high coloured discus and wishing they were wild browns...and the veiltail angels, i think would be nicer as wild, but like you said, it is a community tank..

And I thought Takashi Amano's tank was huge! This is awesome, just seeing all the discus there makes me happy.

I wonder what is the heaviest tank/largest tank HDB allows. hehe.

IMHO. I just find the open space is too much which is good for fish, plant around the wall only, lack of focus, especially the hardscape part. Is just my 0.002 cents opinion.

There is a lot of depth you cannot see because it's a 2 D picture from about 20ft away. It's 4ft front to back and is not back lit. The log on the left juts out 3.5 ft and other side is towards the front.

This is why tanks should be judged by video
Larger tanks are in another class when it comes to scaping, far more challenging than some dinky little 6ft tank that's 20" deep, this tank is 48" deep, much longer than your arm.

I'm also not in charge of everything, it's a client's tank, and I get over ruled(they pay me, not the other way around). They wanted the open space and the walls covered with plants.

Still, the tank could use some work in the plant area that would fill things up nicer I think. But this is just a pic on any given day, not some photo shoot.

I had a nice piece of wood that balanced the other side well, but got over ruled. They wanted the space, they like the fish more than the "scape".

So yes, I agree on most points, wild discus etc would look better IMO as well, but it's not my tank.

    Tom Barr

I think Amano's is larger, but he has only wood forest with ferns etc and some white gravel for a foreground(the client did not want that here, I tried )
and planted long easy to prune items in the back. This tank is also not back lit, black background..........so you cannot tell from a picture the depth.

In person, it does knock you off your feet.

It's the largest private tank for a foreground planting I know of.........

    Regards,
    Tom Barr
