Eventually, all plants and drift wood will become fish fodder. I put ferns and Anubias barteri var. nana in my tanks. They are ended up with holes all over and eventually gets eaten.
Cheers,

Went to fish haven last saturday and came home with one each L183, L15 and L104. They disappeared for 2 days and now coming out to search for food in the morning and evening. Interesting to watch them pushing each other when they feed. I am addicted, feel like adding a few more plecos. What will make an interesting community? Have in mind LDA01 gold stripes panaque and L134.
I am getting worried about my nana and java ferns. Will plecos chew the roots of these plants?
My tank 4x2x2.5 with nana and java ferns on driftwoods, 6 juvenile altums, 2 short body golden algae eaters and the 3 newly bought plecos.

Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

The panaque eats wood like nobody's business. Better to keep plecs in a more Botak environment.![]()
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.

Yup... Your L104 will also do a brillant job of you driftwood...

Oh no. My beautiful winderlev and nana will be gone? I better think twice about adding more plecos but it is hard to resist.

can tell me what's interesting about plecos?
Cheers,
Andrew

What these fishes lack in colors and beauty, they make up for it in character and unique physical form. These fishes grows on you.Originally Posted by andrewtyr

Benny, they have colours...
And their colours are very interesting...
Look at some of the Hypancistrus sp. and the Panaque sp... And also the Xantu (spelling?)... Then L14... Nice nice colour too...

Just look at them moving around and pushing each other will make you smile.
I was having lunch around commonwealth drive with 2 friends yesterday. After lunch I told them I wanted to visit a nearby aquarium at blk 46-3. They came along. It was an eye opener for me (my first visit to Joy Aquarium) - the colour, the beautiful patterns and the price. My 2 friends only knew that catfishes were for dinner table and they were 'wow' and 'my goodness' when they looked at the creatures.

And then there is the wagging of the caudal fin like puppies... So CUTE!
How about the fact that most of them are undescribed to science? And once in a while they discover new species? The L-number system was invented to cope with so many undescribed plecs, it has crossed L400+ already, and last month alone, two newly discovered sp. reached our shore - one of them is a new panaque! (with no L number yet). Almost all cichlids have been described and named. Aros available are farm bred. Most plecs are F0.
Just bought a batch of "albino BN" which on closer inspection found that they have black eyes instead of red, they are actually the rare L144So you have the thrill of the hunt...found a rare black pseuda "contaminant" in a shipment of the more common L160 not too long ago....I can go on and on
