    Hi everyone,

I am planning to buy a new tank. 3 feet x 1.5 inch x 1 inch. Only fresh water fishes are my choice. What types of fishes or community should I get. I am just going to use Under gravel (UG) filter only. No plants. Any suggestions ?

You mean 3 feet by 1.5 feet by 1 feet right?

If you intend to keep plants, I heard that under gravel filter is no good. Cannitser is a better choice.

Canister fliter is definitely good for the aquarium in long term.
I suggest you fill up your tank and let the pump run for few days before adding a fish for good bacteria built up.

Maybe some bog woods to decorate the tank. What fishes you intend to keep? Barbs, Tetras?

Light also important, suggest get one daylight and blue light type.

Since there is no plant, light is only for cosmetic purpose, or isn't it?

UG filter not a factor for fishes. more for plants.
Since no plants, I think barbs are better eg Tiger barbs.
Tetra tends toshow colour when there are plants for them to hide.
Gouramis are good too. What you want to keep?

People, read what the man says and advise or propose accordingly. Hi Oscarthik, my choice is Rasbora, harlequin or Espei is nice and maybe some gouramis as companions.
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.

Hi Oscarthik Let us know what you want anyway so we can help. I know in some countries certain fishes are not easy to find and also costly.

Beginners are best to start with hardier fishes like barbs and gouramis.
