This's the first time I'm seeing a mix of orange and triple red...nice and interesting!! I like the orange dorsals![]()
Any problems you have with parents of different color morph?
Well i know none of my Apistos will ever match up to Apistoworlds. LOL {wishful thanking there} But this guy here is one of my faverites out of all mine. He's 2yrs old and is a mix of ornge flash and triple red.
I got a pair of orange flash and the female the guy set wasn't orange flash but triple red female. I kept telling the guy she wasn't orange flash but he just wouldn't listen. But any way this guy has turned out to be beautiful and I just love the coloring in the fins. Part orange and then the tell tail sign of red black flames in the fins on top of the bright orange. Just sets this guy off, IMO anyway. Hope you'll enjoy him as much as I do looking at him.
He's a bad @$$ he flares at his reflection in the side of the tank. Every night when we turn off the bedroom lights. His tank is right beside where I lay my head and I'll lay there for another 1 or 2 watching him flare at his reflection everynight. His girl friend is a female gold triple, They have had 5 fries together and produce some of the brightest triple golds with amazing reds in the dorsal and tail.
Ok here he is.
I have more pictures of the fry but have to up load them to photobucket first. LOL

Thanks, No There' no trouble in geting them to bred at all. As a mater a fact. This guy here was in a tank with gold triple red female and a triple red female. He has picked the gold female to the point I had to remove the triple red female caue he wouldn't leave her alone. he has spawned with the gold female 3 times now, I'm looking for the gold female to drop the 4th fry either today or early tomorrow morning. I have ruffly 50 fry in a grow out tank from there frist fry. I self hatch the fry from all my Apistos all but the agssizi fry and the panduro. Those females hatch there own really nice.

Actually, any variant of Apistogramma cacatuoides will breed when kept together. Basically, they are of the same species and usually variant of aquarium strains. As such, I wouldn't even consider this hybrid, but new color variations.
For this species, matured males can look very impressive, as in this case.
Cheers,

Now swimming: Plecos and Apistogrammas
Thanks Guys,
This guy is 2.5 to 3''. Since this picture he has grown a half inches and his dorsal fin has grown another 1/2'' and the ray extentions on his ventral fins and tail fin has reached an iche in length.
I'll post a new picture today when I get back. But this guy is my favorite of my Apistos as far as size and looks. He's fry has produced 20 to 25 males with the sme colors in there dorsal fins. There even a couple that's showing white bodies with this coloring. This guy here is in a tank just to the right of my bed and me and my wife lay there every night and whatch this guy flair at his reflection in the side of the tank. Like a male betta, LOL his name as my wife calles him is bad @$$. It just seems like the rays on his dorsal fin keeps growing. They're over an inch in size now.
