-I am using a CO2 pressurized tank with the solenoid thingee. Its plugged in with timer together with my lights and its on for 12 hours.

-I have two fans running 24/7 and the reading is between 27-29C depending on the weather

    -CO2 is bubbling at 1bps,lights =5.4wpg, pH= 6,nitrate=0, a bit of nitrite reading,

-I am using gravel for bottom and ADA soil "Amazon" as top soil. Plants that I have,

    1) Tonina belem (Background)
    2) Limnophila aromatica (Background)
    3) Rotola indica
    3) Swordplant ??need id?? (Background) to cover my filter inlet
    4) java moss (Foreground)
    5) Cryptocoryne ??need id?? (Middleground)
    6) red lotus ??need id??

Planning to plant glossostigma on my another empty foreground. I live in JB so I dont know where to get them... anyone idea where to buy in JB

Hi tman, I think you have the nitrite and nitrate mixed up... Anyway, post your buying plant query in AquaTalk, Beginner's or Plant forum, please... Thanks...

    ok Justikanz

btw, please enlighten me on the nitrate and nitrite??

This is what I have in mind for the nitrogen cycle process

    Ammonia -> Nitrite -> Nitrate

The question is that my tank is almost a month old. There are still ammonia reading and only recently there are some readings on my nitrite test kit and zero for my nitrate.

So does it mean that my tank is not mature yet because there are no Nitrobacter to convert the nitrite to nitrate to complete the cycle.

I have been reading lots of stuff on the net and this is what I have in mind. I don't want to get things mixed up.

About the question on the temperature.. I understand that my temperature is too high... it could be the extra lighting that I have -5.4wpg. I have two PC fan blowing across my tank and the best result I get so far is 26c.. most of the time is 27c. Is this safe for my shrimps...

1 month should have enough time for the nitrites to convert to nitrates already... In almost all tanks, except very newly setup ones or very newly populated ones, it is almost impossible to have zero nitrates with nitrite readings... Maybe your nitrate test kit is not working...

You said you have some CRS and some tiger? I heard they cross breed.
