As for spot algae, I use razor (similar to ADA's one but much cheaper )..

I have the ADA scraper but am not willing to use it on acrylic... The credit card works fine for me.

I have a question for experience aquarists out there: How long before the water in your tank gets dirty after the water change?

I'm asking this question because mine turns light greenish/a little cloudy on the 2nd day. I've tested NO3 in my tank and its at a stable <5ppm and I think feeding the fishes twice a day on Formula 2 flakes (a little each time) isn't too much is it? Most of the flakes that sank to the bottom are picked up by the yamatos if they're not eaten by the SAE.

Anybody have a remedy for my problem?

Your bacteria bloom has most likely restarted each time you changed your water. That will mean that your filter is still not mature enough to take that amount of water change.

Mine stays clear from the water change to water change for my mature tanks.

So does that mean that I should reduce the amount of water changed each time or should I reduce the frequency for water changes?

    Reduce frequency.

40% every 2 - 3 days now cos of the green/cloudy water...its real frustrating Ok, your advice sounds logical, I will not change water for a few more days. Thanks for the help.

It would be helpful to have good biological media in the filteration system like biohome to promote beneficial bacteria colony.

Chemical filteration like activated carbon or zeolite to combat green/cloudy water. (remove after 1 month) Can try ultraviolet light to treat water.

Also use less light and feed less, fish won't die and lastly change water once weekly.

I'm currently using all the original filter media that came with the Eheim 2026 with Hobby activated carbon. I'm also dosing ADA Green Bacter regularly. What's biohome and how does it compare to the filter media I'm using?

I think most filter media has the same function so biohome or the Eheim one are no different. Just different name.
