Finally the well hidden stream.
Typical stream, but the water temp remains quite constant throughout the year.

White Head Bee Shrimp (Or Diamond Bee Shrimp, I think) was only RMB 0.20(wholeseller price) per pc back in 2004. However the price is getting more steep and now can't even get one with RMB 3 to 4! Basically almost disappeared from the market.
My fishy friend and I came to this little town north of Guangzhou, met up with the shrimp dealer and finally visited the homeground of the shrimp
Started walking after a ride on motorbike, behind is Bei Jiang.
This piece of land was a forest 3 years ago
Getting more remote
and here, got to bash already.

Let's see what's inside the water...
more common is this normal shrimp
Finally found them after 10 mins of searching.
This shrimp is an undescribed species, and it will be published soon(only the locality data was missing but manuscript was already one some time ago) and of course here is the type locality.
The more swee specimen!!!

giant fern growing on the rock, the leaf was something like 40, 50 cm long.
On the way return, the guide told us, there were 5, 6 streams had this shrimps 7 years ago, but now only left one...and if somebody buys the land and clears the forest, it will be gone forever....
let's hope they are thriving somewhere else.
Certainly an eye-opener for many of us!
hope so too!Originally Posted by MrTree
