    Hi folks,

    Just want to share with you a clay cave for those who keeps apistos....

    Its a simple clay pot thing, invert it, drill a hole, enlarge it and you have a nice cave for your apistos!!!


    Here's a sample which I just did...hope you like it

    Great Idea!

    However, please sand down the entrance of the cave to avoid any sharp edges that might hurt the fishes.

    Can also cut 1/2 a coconut shell & drill a hole on it

    I've tried that too in the past...don't know why my apistos seem to like clay caves better???

    Yea, need to really scrape off all the "flesh" inside, soak in water for a day or two before using it.....also double check if got any leftovers inside the shell...

    Yup, I did that, scrape off everything, boil it and even let it to dry first but stil.. may be is just not clean enough..

    Coconut shells work well for me as well. I use the brown one without the white husk on the outside. They're also about a $1 and definitely not worth eating; they taste like crap.

    Ya lo, that is the one, I bought 3 from Giant, finished it and do as per what has been mentioned, but still smell...I think I must have done a lousy job.. Anyway, I will try it again as I am in the midst of preparing to rescape a small tank for shrimp and cories..

    BTW, how is your Apisto comm tank?

    Oh good.....my female start to use the cave 3 days after the introduction of the cave....she's digging non-stop from yesterday, the sand is piling up and covering 2/3 of the entrance, leaving only enough space for her to enter sideways....

    hi wondering where can i get those small pots? is the shop still selling?
