Yes... that's noise you see. I am using ISO800, cos need to use small aperture for DOF and high enough shutter speed to prevent blurring from camera shake.
I am using Tamron 90mm + 2x TC.

Anyway.. you shooting with only one flash? or camera built in flash? with more flashes you can lower the iso
Using a SB600. Too many flashes quite difficult to handle leh... especially when shooting insects. Maybe when I am more serious I get a R1 close-up flash kit.
