    how big is the tank you are lighting anyway?....planted or not (what kind of plants if so)......? coz 2x36 for a standard 4x1.5x1.5 may not be enuff.....

    the general guideline for a planted tank is about 2.5 to 3 watts per gallon...so it depends on the volume, and height of the tank.
