ideally it's near empty without water, but as you've mentioned, water gets seeps in, so bottomline, the lesser the better

As long as you are getting a good amount of CO2 "fizzing" out of the ceramic plate, you should be fine.

By the way, which glass with ceramic plate CO2 diffusor are you using? There are several types, ranging from the simple "beetle" type that ADA has to the tall ones that have a spiraling glass tube inside.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

haha you are asking ahsoon or me?
anyway i'm using a simple one without the spiral
the spiral one seems too big...hard to hide =p
    mine brand boyu
    working fine i suppose

thinking of getting an ada one.
wonder if it works better? or the same
somebody's selling ada replica lookalike diffusors in forum
    was giving it some thought

    Asking tanhsoon... pssst it's tan-h-soon, not tan-ah-soon.

Asking him because some does allow water to enter, like the one with the spiral bit inside.

am using the common spiral type. initially thought that the bubble will spiral up to the top before being diffuse by the ceramic plate but there is a hole at the bottom of the spiral and the bubble exit from there instead of spiralling. so thinking that i might have install it wrongly but it looks quite straight forward. if want the bubble is to spiral up then the diffusor should be filled with water i thought, tried that but dont work. or is the spiral for show only for this cheap model and the spiralling only works in more expensive model.

    thanks

I thought you might have that one given the way you asked the question. I've not used one before, but from what I've seen, it's suppose to spiral.

Similar question was asked before in a thread long ago. The answer was to wait. Eventually it'll sort itself out. And I think the thread starter did reply that it worked for him eventually.

    So... wait.

    always tot it was "ah"

    anyway back to topic
whats the advantages of those spiral type vs. normal type?
no reactor for me as my tank only 1.5ft...so trying to minimise bulk in the tank
heard about the aista reactor which can be used both internal n external but not very sure of its effectiveness still
discussn abt it in other thread no like conclusion
hope 'soon don;t mind i asking qns in your thread as well

    lee1224 no problem

manage to get the diffusor working nicely.

would like to share the steps

    1. use a syringe (available at most pharmacies) to pump water into the diffusor via the tube connect to the diffusor, fill up the diffusor till full.
    2. position diffusor in tank
    3. connect tube back to co2 cylinder
    4. set co2 at a higher rate to dispel some of the water in the diffusor
    5. set co2 back to your desire bps
    6. sit back and enjoy the bubble spiralling up the diffusor

note: if bubble is not spiralling up turn the diffusor to help kick start the bubble to spiral

below is a link to the video of my spiralling diffusor.
