New hightech tank

Hi,

Good day to everyone. I'm new to AQ. I found the information posted here is very informative.

I'm planning to set up a new high tech tank with the following dimension:

Length=100cm
Width=45cm
Depth=70cm (actual water depth=60cm)

My plan is to put in 6 x 39W T5HO (4xArcadia T5 Plant Pro & 2xAquaMedic T5 Planta) - DIY & mounted on the hood. Ballast is to be located outside the hood. Each lamp is having individual reflector.

Can someone advise if
1) the lighting is good enough to grow Glossostigma & Riccia (& other high light required plants)? My main objective is to grow high light plants.
2) cooling fan is required to cool the lamps?

Your lights should have no problem... incorporate different switches for different sets so that you can reduce and increase amount of lights use as and when you feel the need to control...

as for fans to cool, recently got a thread on the cooling of the electrodes of the T5 tube to increase the PAR output of the lights... you might want to look for it and take a look...

I hope everyone out there can share & recommend me plants that do well in cold water & where to get it. Thanks.

Hi Uklau,
Welcome to AQ, from what I know almost all plants do well in tank with chiller, visiting teo aquatic farm will probably be a good stop for you if you are getting lost of plants at one go.

I think this thread should be fine here, no worries.

Post your set-up here, the bros here will be able to give you help in the scaping.

The guys at teo's mostly refer to the plants by chinese names, there're some plant catalogues there which you can use. I normally show them what I want from the pics in the catalogue.

Note that AquaMedic's planta T5 tube is actually a "pink" tube.....would advise you opt for another brand which is a "white" light...
