Well, The other supposed to be 'female' could be a sneaker male. Because the alpha male is the A.pertensis so it will look like a female to avoid aggression..
Hi All. I recently aquired 4 apistos that were supposed to be A.gephyra.
i already know that 2 are A.pertensis and have spawned for me with helpful tips from this board they are now on second spawn.
My question pertains to other 2 which are A.gephyra. I was sure that they were both female. My question is will female apistos lay eggs if no male is around? I found one guarding a pot yesterday and when I moved the pot kind of roughly at that I discovered eggs. They looked to be fertile but since i disturbed her so bad she ate the eggs so I am unsure. Here are pics of the 2 A.gephyra. Any help in sexing much apreciated
Sincerely Curtis
