Has anyone used the CO2 set from ADA before? The one that comes with everything in a box - a CO2 canister, regulator, etc. Would anyone be able to tell me if the regulator that comes in the set fits our normal CO2 canisters?

    Brian,

Even the CO2 cartridge is very difficult to find. You might be better off with the mini CO2 cylinders from Taiwan.

    Cheers,

    Hi Benny,

I do have one of those mini canisters from Taiwan and I was thinking of getting another. Problem is finding a regulator that looks good and sits nicely on top of the canister. I'm currently using one of those Dymax solenoid ones, but I really don't want something with a solenoid valve as I plan to just run the CO2 24/7. Any ideas? I'd really appreciate any help.

UP brand from Taiwan has one mini manual regulator without the solenoid valve. You can just leave it on 24/7.

The regulator is practically a cap for the cylinder, much smaller than the UP brand version shown in this picture (which I assume is similar to the one you are using).

    Cheers,

    Hi Benny,

I hope you're not talking about the regulator that comes with the canister. Those things are a nightmare to use and I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. :P
Yup, the regulator shown is similar to the regulator I'm currently using.
I'll continue searching for something that looks as sleek as the regulator shown. Hope I don't have to go the ADA route, hurts the pockets quite a bit.
Just out of curiosity, Anyone have an idea of where I might find an ADA regulator and a rough estimate of what it would cost here?

The shop in Tiong Bahru is Keong Seong and they can be reached at 62729384. And yes, the CO2 cylinder is not refillable. You have to discard them when empty. You might wanna try Far East Aquatic in Simon road if you wanna take the ADA route. I know they have a few of the ADA CO2 sets which they might want to clear.

Thanks, but I'm not looking for the cartridge regulator set from ADA, I'm looking around at the ADA CO2 regulator and still trying to rationalize why I should pay so much for it.

There's nothing wrong with the regulator shown, I have one exactly like it from Dymax. I'm just looking for a reliable and easy to use regulator that's not too big and sleek looking, minus the solenoid valve.

P.S. Someone else has taken over as the distributor of ADA stuff in Singapore.

oh i see ... but i heard that the ada regualtor can only be used on a ada co2 cartridge so you might want to consider whether it is worth while... and thanks for answering my question think i will go for that taiwan brand one cos it looks small and sleek. Was worried that there might be something wrong cos i heard from a friend that some brand after operation for some time the regualtor will become too hot to touch. Sounds scary so will like to confirm with all the pros out there.
    Thanks to all!!!

Heheh... As stated in a previous post above... I hate those things. They're hard to control and aren't exactly something I'd like being out in the open(My CO2 canister is placed right next to my tank on a cabinet).
