    hi there,
i hope my question gets to see some light...

i'm preparing my 4 footer and thinking/considering using the ADA soil system. however i discovered they are on the higher end of my limited budget.

my question will be...i'd just like to use the power sand and topped up by the standard 'holland' sand, will this work? anyone with any such experience?

    advice appreciated...

    thanks..

I believe you can forgo the powersand. Many believes that ADA gravel alone is a miracle!

i was thinking using the powersand without the Aqua Soil...substituting with 'holland' sand...powersand being the base substrate?!

i would advise you to stick with aqua soil, if you really want base fert, just get thos readily available at LFS. Personal opinion, powersand complements well with aquasoil.

    thanks all for the replies...

i have actually gone and purchased the powersand and aqua soil set up...

i'm gonna be laying it out soon, however, the selected plants will not be in until 7 or 10 maybe even 14 days from now...shall i wait for the plants or can i go ahead and pour out the substrate (got my Penac P & W and tourmaline C as well...) and start arranging my DW and rocks? (without water, of course...)...
