Dissappointed with the parents, saw a layer of fungus covering the eggs and the parents are still fanning over it.....Guess i'll pull out the eggs and try to hatch it myself for the next batch of eggs...

Eman, give the mummy ram some times to perfect the art of cichlid parenting. My rams only managed to take care of their brood after 3rd attempt. Once she is able to raise a successful brood, you will have problem finding more tank space for the fries. They breed like rabbits.

Erm....so far the blue rams that I saw always have a blue shine on their body...
If you happen to see red or green rams please inform us!

Update: My attempt to hatch the eggs myself have failed, the parents have laid another clutch of eggs again and they're taking care of them now....no signs of any development so far....

i was at a farm in seletar when i saw these rams. if i remember correctly, there were ones with a blue or green or red shine. the farm isnt there anymore but it was the one with a big water reservoir and a pet crocodile that had a dead pink tilapia floating around in its enclosure. this was like when i was still in primary school. that was the first and last time i ever saw rams with that colour. been looking for them to no avail.

    Hi guys,

Once again my rams have spawned again....I have the good luck to witness the egg-laying process.....but what is shocking me is: the "male" is laying the eggs while the "female" is rubbing her little anal thing on the eggs!!! Does male rams lay eggs??? could someone please clarify it? thanks!

It sounds like both are females... 2 females often will get together to lay eggs to expel the eggs from their bodies...

Look at the dorsal fin.. Does your "male" have a longer 2nd ray? Or about the same length as the other rays?

The "female" has her 2nd ray a little longer only..
