used of AC/DC fan can achieve 2-3 below the original temp.. which is good enuff, but the size of tank oso plays a imprt part, the smaller it is, the cooler it gets, unless u increase the size/number of the fan for bigger tanks

Thanks for your advice! Greatly appreciated.![]()
hi Simon,
but isn't the fan going to cause of turbulence on the water surface? where to get these fans? anyone selling here? how much does it cost? my tank is only 1.5ft
You can get them at Sim Lim Tower.
Simon got everything covered, as usual. So, I'll just share my experience on cooling fans.
I've managed to reduce the water temperature by 4-5 degrees. Previously, it was around 34-35 and now it's around 28-29.
I use 4 DC fans on all corners of my tank and mounted underneath my tank's cover. I set 3 fans to suck air into the tank and 1 to suck out the heat. Quite a bit of d-i-y involved and cost more than store bought fan.
Cheers,
Roy
there isnt 2 ways ard the prob.. solve one get another :P.. as for the turbulence, fear is the loss of C02.. but so far no prob, jus increase the bubble per sec... troublesome will be the topping up of water
I think you don't have to blow the fans directly at the water, but across/over the water to encourage evaporation.
I like roy's idea. The sucking fan also removes hot air generated by the lights.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
IMO, extracting warm air out is good for enclosed/hooded tanks where warm air is trapped
I've recently installed 2 fan for my 4ft planted tank. It reduce the temp by 2deg and each fan cost me SGD25.
Very effective for lower the water temp.
Au SL
i used 2 dc fans.bought them at simlim for 3bucks each.Still selln now.Connect em up to an adapter...so far bring down about 3-4 deg..![]()
