    Hi all,

I'm planning to set up a low tech aquarium... heard so much of this ADA Aquasoil...

How much does it sell on average a packet (and how big the packet)?

More importantly, where can I buy?

    Thanks

    Seamonkee

It's under $40, one packet is enough for a standard 60cm tank.

    Thanks guys...

I just got one tub of dennerle deponit mix 200 from someone... I think it is fert... He says it is enough for my 5 footer... Is this any good?

If I use this as fert base, do I still need ASA Soil? Or can I just use any plain gravel (I have also inherited a few bags of black quartz gravel from my friend)...

Just some low tech plants... Thanks

You can buy ADA aquasoil from Biotope (Blk 2 Jln Bukit Merah) or Keong Seong (Blk 22 Havelock Rd) too.
Regarding your choice of base fertilizer, I would go for ADA powersand as this works best with ADA Aquasoil. Just to clarify, I do not have any commercial interest with ADA.

    Perhaps you're confused

ADA Aquasoil + ADA Powersand are meant to work together according to the company ADA. Usually, people only use Aquasoil since it seems to be good enough on its own. Thus, Powersand is an option, usually for people who are willing to buy it.

If you intend to use Deponit Mix as your base fertiliser, you can still choose to use Aquasoil, or any regular gravel meant for planted tanks. Imho I'd use regular gravel in this case.

Thanks for the advice... I may just do that... Use the Deponit as base fertiliser than top with the black quartz sand I got as freebie.. save some $$$... Hehe...

Reason why I asked was I see so many people putting up posts on ADA Aquasoil so was wondering if it is a highly recommended and effective product... Then again, I heard from some that Deponit is equally good as well in the long run...

    Thanks!

Is ADA Aquasoil = ADA Amazonia?? Heard that using new ADA soil will cause ph to drop drastically. Is this true?

p/s: Seamonkee, sorry to cut in this thread but tot this is the same topic.

There's 3 types of ADA aquasoil
    1) ADA Amazonia (black)
    2) ADA Africana (brown)
    3) ADA Malaya (brown)

I've only use the first 2 soil before & they do lower the ph of your water but not drastically.

Why don't you check if fellow forumers have any to let go at the Buy/Sell section?
