    Hi All,

i had just join Aquaticquotient 2 weeks ago and will appreciate your point of view on my recent problems.

I have 2 x 5ft by 2 ft by 2ft tank with planted at the lower deck and frontosa at the upper deck
    - an external Fluva 403 Filter
    - 2 x 150w Metal halide
    - Co2 reactor (5 x Bio balls type)
    - normal planted Substance bought (AKA american Sand)

I had successfully groom my planted tank 1 year back to an average level in my old house with ricci and some other non expensive plant, however sad to say that after 2 years of aqua planting, fish keeping was never a success.

    Fish tried
    cardinal tetras -
    Penguin tetras -
    Emperor Tetras -
    Pencil fish -
    Glowlight -
    black Tetras
    Red nose Tetras -
    Holland Ram -
    angel fish -
    Corydoras metae -
    Otocinulus affinis -
    Rasbora -
    SAE -
Most of the above were bought in pack of 50s, however daily dying result to surival of 5-10

Recently I swifted to my new house and circulated the tank for a month with a few old fishes and no plants, however I rush into action and purchased 500pcs of tetras and threw them in with rarely any mature plant, soon the dying rate was by 20-30s per day, I had tried cleaning the external filter in order to stop the dying fishes but was however unsuccessful. After the dying stop, lots of snail appear and water turn milky to greenish, i had perform a 30% water change weekly for the past 2 weeks but mikly water remains.

500 tetras in a 5ft tank is a little cramped imho. Also, did you acclimatise them properly?

Acclimatisation is the process of introducing new fish into your tank. Surely you have read about this before embarking on fish-keeping as a hobby?
