it'd be best not to use angels or discus as they can outgrow your tank, plus they do better in bigger groups of at least 5. i'd recommend the rams or any sort of apistos (don't have to be cacas)
hi guys. as i have upgraded my tank to a 2ft tank.
having around 15 cardinals and 5 other fishes like oto, sae.
what type of tank mates would you guys go for?
my options are :
1) 2 juv altum angles
2) 1 pair of german rams
3) 1 pair of apisto "caca"
4) 2 discus
5) others
out of the above 4. what would you choose? or would you go for others? if others, please elaborate.
thanks!

yea.. considering that too.. forget about them growing big..
its kinda hard to find pairs of really nice german rams nowadays
as mentioned by the other bros, these two are no go. firstly, they will outgrow your tank pretty fast and secondly, your cardinal will end up in their tummy as food.
328 has them in stock. saw them in stock today as i went there for lunch.![]()

you should be able to get a good pair from biotope once their stock comes in. if you want to save money and know how to sex them yourself, you can always try getting a pair of the cheap ones from most LFS but run the risk of having 2 males or 2 females instead.
an alternative if you want a pair of something bigger would be to get a pair of bolivian rams. I've heard they can be really cute. Wu Hu had a bunch last week and i think Polyart might still have some leftover from a couple weeks back. the downside, though, is that you have to sex them yourself as well.
Edit: i just got back from C328, didn't see german ram pairs at the betta racks where they usually are. didn't have time to check the back storage area though, so they might be therei did see some juv holland rams in their fish tanks thoughbut might not be accurate as they're really small
erhmm i'm surprised nobody advised him against adding more fauna
he already has 15 cardinals plus 5 more otos/sae's, which will grow bigger
i think 20 fish in a 2 footer is more than enough
personally i don't advise you to add more bioload
but its your choice.
depends on your filtration and plant mass etc
decided to go for 1 pair of german ram.
didnt see any pair of german rams when i go c328 2 days ago too..
thursday, i went to biotope(AMK) but didnt find any german rams
bro, have changed my plan. now with only 10 cardinal tetra, 1 oto and 1 SAE.
my tank is those 2x1x1.5ft tank, filtration is ehiem 2213 canister filter and plant mass is quite heavy i will say.
