    Hi guys and gals,
I was over at sam yick marine parade.

They had a tank with riccia as the base. Upon checking with the sales personnel, i learnt that they grew the riccia without tying it to anything( at least that what they say)

if its true, anyone how to go about doing it?

    thanks

    yours sincerely,
    Storm

    just sharing

oh hi there. i think u might have misunderstood what the sales assitant told u. maybe they tie riccia to a rock or something. if riccia is not being tied it will definetly float on the surface. i think what the Sa is trying to say is even if u dun tie riccia to anything n let it float on the surface it will still survive.
    my 2 cents worth! cheers!

They mentioned to me that they don't know how it is done as the tanks were set up elsewhere and then brought to their store. Anyway these aquascaping techniques are industry secrets....they may not share that easily.

    hi guys and gals
well...seems that we have to go back to the conventional method of tying riccia...hahaha

but if they are indeed not using any base...its very beautiful

    thanks

You can just use a pair of tweezers and stick the Riccia into some Hairgrass. They will keep it in place. Is this what you saw?

I saw it too. What it looks like is a total flat lawn of mini-riccia. It almost looks like those grass on a golf course. In addition, there were 2-3 tiger lotuses growing out. There is no obvious sign of any anchorage, whether it is hidden. It is a mystery to me too.

    Just an idea.

The riccia could be the sinking mini riccia. Perhaps the riccia was harvested, and 'folded' and 'pressed' down so that it sinks.
