Hi, I'm thinking of getting this HOB filter for my 1 feet shrimp tank. It comes with carbon cartridge. I came across some article mentioning that carbon will absorb traces from the water. Since I'm going to have plants in the tank, what would be the effects of using carbon in planted tank? Thanks.
    Cheers,
    U.K.Lau

Don't use it then, just in case. I myself used to only use the sponge with Biohome and ceramic rings in it.

Carbon is only used to extract toxins or medical chemicals from your water if the need arises. It should not be used permanently. A healthy tank does not need carbon filtering.

Thanks for sharing. I'll get 1 then because it is 1 of the filters that has the lowest power consumption.
    Cheers,
