After closer observation, have noticed shiny white spots on the fin and tail of my Blue Neon. It also affect part of my Cardinal tetra.

The rest of the fishes- Ram, Rasbora, gold tetra are fine.

Also notice the body of the Blue neon was a bit black in color.

what disease is this and cure for it.

    Thks in advance

    this is most likely ich
and quite possibly coupled with NTD (neon tetra disease)
there's no cure for NTD, what people normally do is to euthanise the affected fish
what i suggest is you remove the affected fish, and dose the rest of the tank for ich, which i recommmend using 1tbsp per 5gal of salt for

    Like what u said.

    Total deaths= 20 blue Neon

and 5 Cardinal tetra. Seems like it also spread to the other fishes like Gold tetra and Ram.

How frequent I need to add salt to the tank?

what has spread? the white spots or the NTD?
salt is a one shot application, dissolve the salt in water before carefully stirring small portions into the tank water
if you change water, remember to add salt according to how much water you change
one wk should solve the ich problem

    More casualty.

Now, my cardinal fin and tails start to rot. It also affect the OTO with spot all over the body.
The ram tail alread start to rot and shiny spots also appear on the body.

Seems strange as nothing happened for the past 6 mths till I introduced some plants and change the filters on Weds Night.

What could have gone wrong. If it is NTD, can it spread to fishes like OTO and Ram.

    that's white spot
    not NTD
ntd affects neons and cardinals primarily
purportedly could also affect fish with the neon stripe

the problem you have is one of water quality
this is evinced by your ram's fins
do a 30% water change, and use the salt treatment
this will treat the white spot

tank is 4 ft by 15 ft.

added salt of 7 tsp with filter running.

    Change water 50% twice:

    Sats= 50%

    Mons = 30%

Hopefully, things will be better. Hope Gold tetra will not get spread.

your dosage is way too low
    1 tbsp = 3 tsp
are you using tbsp or tsp?
    it's 1 tbsp per 20l
    120x45x45=243l
    you'll need 12 tbsp, not 7 tsp
you're not making much of a difference to the ich

    as for the NTD
you can only cross your fingers and hope

    Sorry it is 7 TBSP.

Anyway, went down to Gan today and recommended JBL Punktol 400 which is friendly for my planted tank.

    Add in with filter running.

    Total casualty:

    25 Blue Neon

    15 Cardinal

    3 Gold Tetra

Now all the ram and Otot are affected.

Harlequin rasbora 20 all are OK. Strange.

PC: sad to hear that... Green Neons/ Neon Tetras are prone to getting white spots. Salt helps in addition to medication. I have seen my Neon Tetras grow back a tail during recovery. Good luck.

    you only need ONE treatment
i don't recommend mixing and matching
medicines are always more harsh than salt
the key to treating ich is patience

Still monitoring. One death only today.

Will change water again tomorrow to monitor.

    Anyway, thks for the help.

Don't worry- it give me more reason to buy other fishes.

Like what GAN said, bad news for me for the death but good news to him. Hehe

    Cheers
