Any brothers got the wall mounted kind of tanks in their home? If so, i got some newbie questions to ask around..

    1. How does the mounting works? Are "metal" pillars drilled into the wall and the tank placed on it or?

    2. How does the changing of water takes place? Is there enough space at the top to accomodate anything? Cause from pictures, it looks very constrained at the top/narrow at the side..

    3. How are the prices like? That is the delivery, installation and everything?

    4. Any disadvantages of them?

Hope guys around can answer my queries~~

    Hi Dawugui,

I'm using one from aquavistainc.com. Looks like it's from US but actually made from China (which product isn't ).

    1. Mounting is done by using a metal bracket. It comes with a solid bolt that can screw into a wall. Make sure the wall can hold the weight. This fish tank is around 45 kg with water.

    2. Changing of water is a breeze also. 7 gallons of water is quite easy. It comes with those squeeze type pump to suck out water.

    3. I bought it around 400++, no delivery. Installation is around 60++. I installed it myself. You need a drill, concrete drill bit, some imagination and lot of guts that the wall can hold it.

Btw, comes with everything... filter, pump, gravel... u just need the fish and water

    3. Disadvantage is you can only put in small fishes like tetra, barb, etc. Those slimmed body will do.

And after two months the sumbersible pump conked out already. It comes with 6 months warranty in SG but don't rely on it because it totally sucks. I ended replacing it myself. Thanks to the LFS near my place because they have similar pump.

Advantage is it's really a space saver and really enjoyable! I love it! Actually I want to buy another one already

it's only 26 by 26 inch.. roughly 2ft only.. i also have a driftwood and plant.. thin one.

note that you need to drill at least 60mm deep hole on the wall for the screw to hold the bracket. so make sure your wall is thicker than 60mm or else you'll have a hole right thru the next room

make sure that your wall is also made of concrete. i heard that newew flats (if staying in condo or hdb) now use board (thick wood??) for the walls. this might not hold the weight. i'm not a contractor so take it with a pinch of salt

imagination - to position it nicely on your wall

i bought it at compasspoint. don't be discouraged, pay for the installation fee of 60$ if you don't want any hassle.

wall mounted tank would be feasible if you are thinking of small and narrow tanks.
if you want normal tanks, forget about wall mounted.
a load bearing wall should be able to support a decent sized tank but you are NOT allowed to drill into these walls.

Eh, how to see the walls? I live in Sk, so i dunno about the walls being used here. I not that interested in tanks of more than 3 feet (if that is considered the small ones), and also there's limited space in my bedroom.(that's the only place i'm allowed to keep fishes). SO i think wall mounted tank will be just nice for me......

mmarmos : compasspoint got sell meh?? where??

Hiz caroland. It sure helps a lot with your pictures. But i think yours is way out of budget for me already~ 1k+!!! Think if i buy, there goes almost my whole AWS bonus pay liao. Sigh, but nice DIY system though. I will go down later to compasspoint to see if there's any other information i can dig out from there. BTW, did you grow the moss on the driftwood yourself? If so, how long does it take?

you should be able to get the floor plan of your unit from hdb office. usually renovation contractors will use these to indicate what renovations are to be carried out. as mentioned, you are not allowed to drill into these walls.

3 ft, i presume is the width. what about the depth and height?

I think there is a certain depth that you're allowed to drill on the load bearing walls. All my indoor a/c units are attached on those walls.

Hmm, quite confused about these stuff again. How long will the bolts go in till? ramos : went to compasspoint but couldn't find the shop. Dunno is it closed already or what. Besides Yoshinoya, only Ya Kun Toast and Sweet Secrets.

caroland : where do you get your endlers? Are they expensive?

I think you went to the wrong floor. Ya Kun is at the first floor.. Go to the Basement - near mcdonalds, kfc, swensens.. beside yosinoya. Shop is "Astoria" selling those fountains, flowers. You will see the fish tank there hanging on the wall also. Better ask them for the an advice on how to mount it as well.

Btw, compasspoint is in sengkang. the one attached to the sengkang mrt

have you bought the wall mounted aquarium? in case not, better think twice. i had a terrible experience already with "astoria" - the distributor. the pump broke down and they came down to my house (after 3 days) to replace the whole aquarium. nice right? but upon opening the box and tried to mount it on my wall i found tons of scratches on the front screen and the background has lots of cracks! i called them again already and i will see what action they will have on monday.

monday they came down with my original aquarium. pump fixed but bloody hell i think they let a 2 year old do the job. the pump they put in is slightly bigger so the substrate is not aligned. the heater was also not connected properly. headache man. good thing my local lfs here helped me with the pump.

if you intend to buy this and will rely on this astoria for support. better think 100 times first.

btw, i saw another wall mounted tank in tampines mall at the basement. looks similar to caroland's. now i'm finding a way to dispose this and get that one
