I have been in Bintulu, Sarawak for almost a month but have not really got the time to search for plants. Only managed to snapped 2 pics of the plants in the drain outside the apartment.

THe first plant looks like elatine triandra or APP to me. Can someone confirm? What is the 2nd plant? It is all over the drains in this town.

Yes it's emersed because the drain dried out due to dry spell but I am not sure about the identification but it's certainly not Rotala Nanjenshan. The drain only has around 1 sq ft of this. Hopefully they are still there till I set up a tank here.

2nd plant is a local species (marsh plant which grows in wet soil but not aquatic) in the same family as the water hyacinth.. I don't have the name on hand.

thx for the info. Otherwise I would have brought them back to singapore to try a few mths later. What abt the first? is it APP?

Never tried APP before. So I dont know how it looks like in emerse form. There are quite many foreground plants from the drain in the plant I am working but camera isnt allowed. I dont think I can smuggle out also because need to pass 3 security booths to go in or out.
