i once broke a 1 feet tank when i was washing it in the toilet
was cleaning it up for a new setup
lifted one side of it from the toilet floor and due to water being wet etc the glass slipped from hand and the tank cracked nicely into 2 pieces

needless to say the intended new setup was shelved

    Missing plant! - totally

This thing happened while I was away from Singapore for a month.
Anyway my fish tank, had been neglected for a month, only with top-ups of distilled water (I was afraid my mother would put excess seachem prime). But that's a side issue - I found that one of my plants - a green crypt went missing! Totally missing, that is, a five cm high plant with lots of leaves. But my mother does not know how to trim the plants...so how could it have gone? Surely there must be some trace.... I planted it beside the glass and even the roots were gone...

So my green crypt has been alien abducted...

Well crypts can melt easily and one month is a long time for a dead plant to decompose to nothingness.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Remembered that I was very young then. Every living things in the tank died due to some infection. In desperation of wanting to thoroughly clean the sand and tank, I soaked the sand in boiling hot water.... thinking that I did a great job.

Followed which, I poured hot water direct from the kettle into the tank. Well... you guys might have guessed what happened to my tank. That's the result of sleeping during science class.

    This is the next interesting event;

One of my rasboras died mysteriously during the night and it sank to the bottom of the tank.

In the morning when the tank lights came on I saw it and as I was going to work, I decided to remove the dead body later in the evening.

When I came back in the evening the fish was picked clean, right down to the bones. My shrimp had been at it.

Will upload picture, I took a blur photo of the bones.

I just did a water change 1/2 hr ago on my 1 foot cube.
Was siphoning the sand area and the moss of debris using an air tubing and as I was moving it around, accidentally sucked in one of my green neon tetras that was trying to swim past my hand.

Surprisingly the fellow zipped right through the tube all the way into the pail without much resistance and without being stuck at all.

But unfortunately the friction during the 'trip' gave him a very vicious tear on one side of his body.
Sad to say he didn't last long after.

You remind me of a slip up I made a year ago. During my wc, I left the pipe in there halfway deep, thinking it is safe because the citizens in the tank were a mid sized aro, mid sized pleco and a small sized but bottom dwelling bichir. A visual check 15 minutes later and the water level was OK (Meaning low enough and can be topped up). While I was topping up, I was doing a headcount but can never find the bichir. Cannot be, since the hose size is "just right" but my bichir is a very lazy fella and doesn't come out of the tank floor. I checked my drain hose and it's final destination..... there it was!! Dried up but minimally breathing. Luckily I saved him. Phew!

I use to rear small size snake heads in a 3.5 ft tank back in Malaysia before. The specimen was like more than 1 foot long. The problem is it won't just take any kind of food. It only take live food. One time live food was unavailable in the fish shop for some time and this guy was really hungry. When I finally bought some feeder fish to feed it, it went at it with so high speed, it really knock the tank hard. The whole setup - 3.5 ft on top and 3 ft at the bottom was shaking violently. Later found that the top tank was leaking.

My uncle's case was even worse. His tank is 4 ft and his snake head is bigger - around 2ft I guess. It broke his tank while trying to attack the feeder fish.

Yeah, should have put it in a pond of something instead. It is quite fun to watch though. Too bad almost anything else you put in there with it will end up as food. The only fish I manage to put in with the snakehead without getting eaten is those common pleco. I guess it's too hard.

Hahaha ... silly kid in the video.

IT'S MY WILD FEMALE APISTOGRAMMA AGASSIZII!!

thank god that it survive.... just now put it in the tank the male went straight to the skinny female guarding it from the caca pair and borelli pair..

    lucky me... phew...

that reminds me of another of my slip ups.
was in process of filling up water into a new 1.5 foot setup last year after a whole day of setting up and scaping
i was using a small hose as a siphon tube to transfer water from the pail into the tank
was getting impatient at the too slow water transfer speed and decided to give it a boost by putting the pail on even higher ground (it was on a tall stool)
conveniently the place happened to be on top of the old CRT-style TV (just enough space)
why the hell did i even consider doing that?
i then adjusted the tubing and gave an accidental tug on it, causing the whole pail of water to come crashing down onto my TV and the extension plug near it
i heard a loud "boom" sound and the whole house went lights out.

needless to say, the tv and the extension plug went out of commission

now you know how my house's LCD tv came along

I had a baby guppy that was sucked into my Eden 501, for two weeks I could still see it swimming around inside...

Due to urgings from my gf who cannot bear the thought of a 'baby being trapped' - I dismantled the 501 and dumped it back into the tank, but when I restarted the filter, the filter belched out a huuge cloud of filter muck, which settled on the tank...killing the parent guppies and some of my other fish and shrimps.

Never did see the baby guppy again though.

They eat pleco too? How big are yours? Wow! I always thought they can never chew through that tough skin. Guess I'm lucky that my pleco didn't get attack.

Damn! My Hoplo catfish went 'surfing' for fishfood on top of my crinum thaianum leaves last night and ended up on the floor. tank water level is quite high and I guess it panicked when it landed on the bracing.
