depending on the species u are talking about, each puffer species has different temperaments. the ones that most people keep in their planted tanks are the dwarf indian puffers. they will nip other fishes fins if given a chance but they do minimal damage. proper feeding and enough space will allow u to keep one or two dwarf indian puffers in the tank with no adverse effects. Indian puffer? How does it look like? I can use a puffer in my tank to eradicate snails.

Yes! Puffer is harmful...killed so many of my cardinals, after i took the rascal out, and added some new cardinals, they are all in the pink of health. no more broken or eaten fins. after all that rascal did not clear the snails away.

i used to have indian puffers too, quite mild in temper but still to leave them in a species will be so much better. others that i have before were the figure 8 and green puffers. these two were more aggressive, cos afterall they were bigger than the indian puffers.

Just wondering if these puffers are poisonous. I have heard of a friend's aro that ate the puffer in the tank

all puffers carry a poison known as tetraodoxin. it's found in their livers. i'm not sure of the concentration of the toxin in the dwarf indian puffer but tell your friend to keep an eye on the aro. [:0]

Well, his aro is still living healthily after having the puffer for a snack. And it has been a long time I think.

hahha, well then i guess the aro didn't really find the concentration too bothersome :P. that makes one really fit aro. []
