    Hi all

2 months ago, I posted the picture of my 2.5ft and received many good suggestions for improvement (see:http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ight=lone+star)

I have just rescaped the tank and it is just 3 weeks old:-

What type of fish do you think is suitable for this layout and any suggestion for improvement?

Yes. I love rasboras. A few dashes of red will be nice But I have some Boraras brigittae in another tank and they are too tiny and don't seem to school well. Any idea which rasbora species school most of the time?

R.dorsiocellatas! These are silver though...I'm looking for these for my 20gal set-up but didn't see any lately, let me know if you spot any at the LFS.

    R. dorsiocellata can be found in C328 and Ben TB, but they are of tiny puny size.

Why not Microrasbora sp. 'galaxy'? Would look awesome against the green scape. If price is prohibitive, what about Axelrodia riesei (ruby tetra) or Trigonostigma sp.?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will have to search the web to see them as i am not so familiar with their scientific names. Is galaxy schooling fish? See that it is the latest craze..Actually i thought ken mentioned the fish found in Bronze prize- rockscape of ADA 2006 contest. Silver colour fish called Rasbora Agilis. Beautiful!

Richie, the plants are HC, rotala sp green, MM and long hairgrass background. Have to trim the long hair grass every week. Very fast growing and grow as tall as 1 ft every week. Mini x mas moss under rocks.

May be giving up on HC and replace with japan hair grass..

Supposedly, tetras/rasboras do school but after some time in the tank, I find that these fishes may noy shool as tight, and form loose schools. So your milage may vary.

    Microrasbora sp. 'galaxy'
    Axelrodia riesei

Ken is referring to Rasbora dorsiocellata, which is different from R. agilis. R. dorsiocellata is more commonly found in our LFS, R. agilis is not the common staple, so finding them may be a stumbling block.

Thanks Quixotic, you certain know very well about fishes . I believe R. agilis is hard to find. The problem is that only few LFS here use scientific names to label their fishes. One of them is Biotope and i will start from there for my hunt.

Biotope has stock for both Microrasbora sp 'galaxy' (not many left) and A. riesei (whole tank). Have fun scooping...

But I think A. riesei will be prettier since you have a sea of green and you see a shoal of reds swimming in front...

zenscape, you may want to consider Rasbora heteromorpha (Harlequin rasbora), R. hengli or R. espei. I think the fishes mentioned by valice are too small for your 2.5ft tank.
Barbus titteya (Cherry barbs), glowlight danios or goldenTanichthys albonubes (golden White Cloud Mountain Minnow) are suitable for your tank too. Most of the fishes that I mentioned can be found in Biotope.

They have their own genus Trigonostigma, so it's T. heteromorpha, T. hengeli and T. espei. Use Puntius titteya instead of Barbus.
