to get rid of the plants would be a pity since the plants look nice.

i'd throw away the cabinet and replace the plastic shoe rack with a wooden one from ikea, get a wrought iron stand for the fish tank and nestle it amongst the plants.

Haha, i just had an evil thought.. Azmi has electric eels/catfish occasionally... Buy one, put it in the tank and wait for your neighbours stupid kids to put their hands in...

that was what I contemplated doing to the blardy karleng birds.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

There will always be an after effect even with an electric eel or something like that. They break the tank and let the fish dry out. Why keep a tank outside?

Actually, with or without the proposed glass tank, the corridor walking space is already 'fixed' in that your cabinet and plants are already in those position. If you add a tank and complaints start coming in, then it all boils down to nosey/jealous neighbours.

Well, I am worried that the tank will make the place look more cramped...

Shifting the plants to the right side would mean the chance of the cabinet having the bottom wet during watering of the plants will be increased... And the idea of keeping the tank-pond and the plants in the pond is to solve the problem of us forgetting to water them! Haha...

And I do not want to get a new stand lah... Just want to make use of the cabinet.

i think its a good idea bro.
    more greenery is good.
    i like projects like that.
its exciting and the results are always rewarding.
good idea to put endlers. they breed easily as well.
u can also put some hornworts or hydrilla in there as well.
thought that a small FGT would be good but it wont work on a cabinet.
    glass tank will look better.

If you're on the ground floor you might want to watch out for the guy in the truck spraying the insecticide

Justikanz, if you're in good term with your neighbour, I'll doubt you'll have a problem. Looks ok to me and your idea to remove the potted plant somewhere else is feasible. But prepare a secondary plan to remove the tank if someone complain. Only problem I forsee is that if your neighbour wanted to move out, the mover might have a problem going through that gap.

But well, the project mgiht be postponed to a very much later date... Need the money to pay for the damage of the car during the accident a couple of days ago... *Sigh*...

I am hoping that with enough of the emersed plants, the algae issue will be kept minimum... But I am ok with the algae... in this tank only lah, if it ever gets done.

You know Thomas, if ever your plants need to be relocated, they can be sent over to Phillipe's Jungle Haven. I'll make sure they receive the best xxx treatment ever. They'll go great with my "Sexy Pinks" Heliconias!!

And to cultivate emmersed horticulture is, in my opinion another avenue of which you are expanding as a hobbyist. Do let me know if you need any help in creating that project. Would love to help you transform it into a lush green corridor.

    Regards,
    Phillipe.

Thanks, Phillipe. I think I will need help for some of the re-location.

I am starting to be very interested in keeping aquatic plants emersed... In fact, I am beginning to develop an extremely strong interest in setting up vivariums using emersed plants...

Just to share with you guys, I had once place a tank outside my corridor, an empty tank some more, what happen 2 weeks later is, a HDB personel came knocking my door, he said that resident is not allow to place tank or anything which will results obstruction, mosquito breeding at the corridor, not even keeping fish, they want me to remove immediately or else they will take legal action. They also mentioned that the cleaners post alot of complaint too. They complaint that it is difficult to sweep and wash the floor.
