have you removed the removed the safety ring on the top of the tank?
i just bought a second hand co2 from other forum.. but when i come back and tried to turn the tank's valve to release co2.. i can't even turn a inch as it is too tight to make a round.. i follow the direction on the valve and turn anti-clockwise.. i also pull out the regulator's tube to release the accumulate air inside the regulator thinking that it might be the cause of the tightness of the valve..
what wrong with it? can someone advise?

have you removed the removed the safety ring on the top of the tank?

it's something like those ring like(looks like the safety ring which we go to pull out from grenade during BMT days).

Hi,
Perhaps a little WD40 may help?

There are readings on the gauges already? Gas in the regulator from the previous test at the seller's place? Turn it clockwise to see if you can close the main valve. (It might actually be in an open position?)

Agree with PeterGwee, might be in open position. If either clockwise or anti-clockwise doesn't work, can verify with the seller.

there are reading at the gauge in the regulator when i bought it. been 2 days and the reading yet to be drop. i never tested it as we deal outside which might be a serious problem to buyer and seller meet outside for electronic items and i was in a hurry to go back home do something. Yes, i tried all way and means to turn around yet it still remained as it is..
i have contacted the seller and the seller willing to come down today noon to take a look. What is the possibility that tightness at valve will happen and in what situtation??
my plants are dying soon and in a semi-serious condition. i need to get it done soon. anyone kindly living around sengkang area mind coming down to take a look??![]()
kopi on me..

I suppose the seller be dropping by to inspect the CO2 tank, maybe can feedback to us the problems.![]()

I suggest you bring the set down to Systems Control and Engineering at Boon Keng Road opposite Boon Keng MRT. They can check it for you safely.
thanks for all input.. really appreciate it..
the seller have came down and take a look of it when i contacted him.. very nice guy with good after service.. he himself dunno the problem so i bring it down to the NA and colourful aquarium and both say the same. seller agreed to refund back the tank's cost to me.![]()
the problem lies in inproper uses. after asking the seller for more details, the seller disclosed that he switched off the solenoid regulator without switching off the cylinder valve. for a prolonged period of neglecting, the accumulate air inside the solenoid spoilt the whole valve.
NOTE: for those using cylinder co2, the best method to close is to switch off the cylinder valve a few hours before u switch off ur regulator to avoid any unforeseen problem

That is not the problem why that main valve jammed. We all do the same thing with regulators hard piped with solenoid valve (Turning the main valve on-off regularly would wear it out faster and cause potential leak problems. A solenoid valve would be useless if you do what you actually wrote.). Some folks have issues with a particular brand of CO2 tank last time which was posted in the forum. Pay more for quality....

I thought that's what a solenoid is for?
So we do not have to manually turn on and off the gauge everyday.
If we have to do it daily, might as well use the manual regulator that cost a fraction of a solenoid price.
anyway, I think the problem with the solenoid is leaving it unused with air pressure inside.
especially if the set is dismantled from tank and left untouched with the piping intact.
water from tank has no where to escape and may seep into solenoid and complicate matter.
solenoid is extremely sensitive to water as it is an electical appliance afterall.
