I have a female Cory who suddenly became "bent" to the left about a week ago. Before that she had briefly showed symptoms of losing her ability to swim, like a person losing their balance. She obviously can't swim now and just thrashes in a twisting circle when she does attempt it. Now she has floated to the surface in that same bent position. I cannot tell if she's eating

This is my first sick Cory. Her other tankmates of 5 corys and 5 aging guppies seem fine. I've had her about 4 yrs. I cannot find any info on the symptoms and really need to find out WHAT is wrong with her and if there is anything I can do for her.

    HELP!!!

from the symptoms youve given i think there is only one thing you can do,
put it to sleep, ive never personally had any of my corys do that but it sounds irrepairable.

Question My Cory is acting strange - Help!

I had to put down a female Cory last week because she was all bent and unable to swim. Had her about 4 yrs & she was never sick until that came about.

Now, I have a tankmate of hers that is having problems staying down on the tank floor. If she cannot wedge herself under a plant, she slowly starts to float up to the surface. I've had her about 4 yrs.

Can Corys get swimbladder problems? All of my Corys have been very healthy, even breeding like bunnies in the past.I've never delt with sick Corys. Her other tankmates (5 guppies) and 5 Corys are all healthy. Is it a health issue or is she just getting old?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Cories do suffer from swim bladder diseases, i had serveral cases a few months back when my water condition was real bad due to overfeeding. Have seen medication for swim bladder disease before in stores, however, you may need to consider the cost.

Thumbs up Things are Looking UP!

Thanks for the reply! I'm new at this sick Cory thing. But I did take a chance and started treating her for swimbladder using something I've used for my guppies when they've had it.............

And she seems a bit better. I'm hopeful she'll keep getting better and I can get her back "home" in another week or so.

    Keep your Fingers crossed!
