not only their diet, water condition plays a part too.

When will there be 25 letters in the alphabets?
i set chiller to 23c it show better white than at 25c..
but this wont jump from B grad to A..![]()
black colour back ground also help ..

Hmmm... if set 23 C ... the chiller will need to work extra hours ...Originally Posted by MIZU
Electricity wise >< then i think i choose to buy some paint to do the job![]()
Cheaper solution :P .. wondering if somebody really paint the shrimps :P
Hi Richie, what is the optimum water condition ? Thanks

The most important is water quality, no so much on diet and food. Any additive can help to improve by 10% or so only.

Are you using a professional canister for your shrimp tanks and what kind of media are you using ? Thanks and cheers.Originally Posted by silane

Will the A or B grade produce S grade or SS grade or the A grade produce only A grade.

Most probably you be getting grade like A, B, C from parent of grade A/B and not of S/SS.

so is will a Grade A CRS be able to produce Grade S.
If so, how to selectively select the shrimps to produce shrimps of higher grades in the future generations?

i got a stupid theory that goes something like this:
A+C = B
A+B = AB?
A+A = A
A+S = 1/2 S?
A+SS = S
S+SS = 1/1/2 S?
I think if progressively interbreed with higher quality shrimps, should manage to get a higher quality brood of shrimps overall.
ie not being racist here or what but an analogy
but european + chinese = eurasian (1/2 european 1/2 chinese)
their kid if plus another european = (3/4 european 1/4 chinese)
and so on....
so if you progressively down the line add more european mix in... somewhere down the tree the ultimate kid will be almost pure european
same goes for crs i suppose
a C grade you keep on mix it with higher grades you will get overall higher grade shrimps until the "C" is almost bred out

IMO..correct me if i am wrong...
It's all in the genes i guess...depending on the expression of the gene(s) that codes for the colour
like gene A decides the color of the head.. gene b the body..gene c the tail..
selective breeding of higher grades may give you a better grade but it's still based in random chances or even depending on a mutation of the gene(s). It's quite low in percentage actually.
else grade S will not have cost so much
i will not say no to A grade producing S grade..but chance of it is slim..it also depand on what grade the grandparent is..Originally Posted by des
what ever grade you want to have in your mind you need higer grade than that for better chance.![]()

As for the medium, any biomedium which is neutral will do, for shrimp tank as it has low bioload, it is not the amount of medium or which medium can treate the most waste water but which medium can response to ammonia surge. You need to have a layer of mechnical medium also.
