Heck, I don't know, but in my case, it had been more than once. Once bitten, twice shy; twice bitten, sure to die. I am not one to go around wanting to give a LFS a bad rep, but neither am I going to take crap and be quiet about it.

Jungle, you're talking about the shop on the second floor right? Strange, I've never come across anything close to bad service there.

Anyway, it's not completely unusual that some shops get mixed reviews. Main thing is we try to be objective about it.

One shop I used to frequent, regularly gives a less then good impression to first time visitors. But people go back there for the good prices and soon realise that the shop owner is simply less gregarious. After repeated visits, most agree the shop gives good prices, fairly knowledgeable, doesn't try to 'smoke' the customers (he doesn't pretent to know stuff if he doesn't), and honest. They slao realise that the owner just isn't very charismatic, and doesn't take nonsense from customers (i.e. he ignores customers that insist on bargaining when he is already giving one of the best prices in the market).

Bringing up an old thread.....so sad to see the continuing demise of some many of the shops listed at start of thread ....BioTope, EcoCulture etc...

Only good thing is the rise of some new niche players in GreenChapter, CRS Haven

BTW, is Azmi of EcoCulture now with GreenChapter as well?
