    Hi,
I wish to find out more regarding pumps/powerhead used in Sump tanks - to pump water back into main tank.
For such powerheads/pumps, what is the most important consideration: flowrate? wattage? or what? I am looking particularly for a strong but not necessarily high flowrate pump because doing a slightly 'different' setup which requires the water to be pumped quite a great height, against resistance... although a high volume of water flow is not required.
I am wondering what i should look out for when choosing a good pump which can function well pushing against such high pressure over long term.
Of course, would appreciate if forummers can give advice on what brands are good, and everyone's ultimate concern - $$.
hope to get some good advice.
    thanks

If your concern is the head loss, then you can go for Eheim 1260 or 1262.
No experience with both, but read that they have the min head loss.

IMO, power consumption is also a major concern as the pump will be on 24/7 unless for maintance.

I'm running a OR2500 in my sump. Flowrate suffered quite tremendously due to headloss. From what was read, as compared to Eheim 1260, OR2500's power consumption beats Eheim hands down at 38W vs 65W.
However, Eheim provide more torque, thus the ability to pump to greater heights.

    Hope this helps!

you should look for a pump which provides sufficient "head"/height.
higher power consumption (watts) pumps usually provides more head pressure; can pump water to higher level.
