Think you scooped the wrong female for this male...
The female should have the same belly markings as this male... I still see the female in the shop...

oh no! we're going to have an accidental hybrid
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Think you better clarify with thio. Just incase the female is not of the same species.

Contaminant... That's why it was in that tank... Thio doesn't even know what species this beautiful guy is...
I do know of someone who will be glad to get the male from you... Hee...

I don't think your A.bitaeniata female will be attracted to the male, since they are of different complexes... One is from the cacatuoides group while this female is from the bitaeniata group...

    Unless she is force on...

hmm, it seems to be a wild A. cacatuiodes instead of A. sp. "Black Chin"... there is no distinct caudal spot...

You meant the break between the spot and the lateral line is not distinct?
Really starting to get confused what fish this guy really is. The females I saw in the shop now have the wild cacatuoides spot (the triple red patterns) on the caudal tail...

Also mentioned in the other forum, this guy could just be a wild A.cacatuoides with an unusual expansive black chin marking...
