Just wondering will a tiny spider about 1/3 the size of a rice grain, pose any danger to crs shrimplets? Cause saw a spider weaving web above the surface of my crs tank. Quite interesting though, witnessing the process of web formation.

    Cheers

No, spiders weave webs to trap prey, unless your shrimp jumps out of the tank and gets itself caught in the web, then it would be a meal. Now lizards... that's another story. If your crs likes to climb near the surface, they may be picked off by a lizard.

Certain spiders do hunt fish and shrimp.. but i doubt they will be found in your house...and they are much larger..

What exactly is this water spider? I think it could very well be a dragonfly or damselfly nymph. These aren't spiders.

And unless they're very large dragonfly nymphs, your shrimp are more a danger to them than the other way round.

A spider that weaves a web outside of water is unlikely to be a aquatic hunter.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Haha, I know you know your stuff lah. Yeah, those fellas are very unlikely to be found in the house.

Can't confirm this, but vaguely off the top of my head, isn't it spiders that hunt do not weave webs? They are already adapted to hunting, so there is no need for webs to trap food. Anyone?

Yup, trapdoor spiders ambush their prey, web spinners just sit there and wait for something to come stumbling into the web.

they still weave webs.. but not weave webs for hunting if thats what you mean..
Off the top of my head...all spiders have spinnerettes which allow them to weave webs of some kind...what they use it for is another issue.
